Matthew I. Stalker passed away unexpectedly, May 7th at Albany Medical Center. Born September 20, 1932 in Hillsdale, NY he was the son of the late Ira and Celia Van der Biesen Stalker.
He was educated at Roliff Jansen and was a member of the class of 1950. He went on and graduated from SUNY Utica. Matthew served in the Air Force, and then went to work at Pratt Whitney in North Haven, CT, Ryerson Steel in Wallingford, CT, Damon Lab in Meriden, CT retiring to Spencertown, NY. Matthew was a member of St. Peter's Presbyterian Church in Spencertown.
Matthew loved his family, cutting wood and doing community work.
He is survived by His wife Doris Jean McComb Stalker, his children; Tim (Wendy) of Spencertown, Peggy of Wallingford, Ct, Tom (Richard Long) of Boston, Scott (Maritza) of Cromwell, CT, Christopher (Julie) of Chazy, NY, grandchildren; Matthew, Bailey, Taylor, Connor, Ian Stalker and Travis Fahey, his sisters Nellie Cheng, Celia McGee and Jeanetta McCauley, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Stalker and sister, Ora Morando.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10th from 4 to 8 pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham, NY. Religious services will be celebrated Wednesday, at 11am, at St. Peters Presbyterian Church in Spencertown, NY. Interment will follow at the Spencertown Cemetery.
