Merwin Stilson, Jr., fondly known as "Sonny", went home to be with Jesus at the age of 83 on October 20, 2023.

Sonny was born to Merwin and Esther on August 2, 1940 in Bridgeport Ct. He married and raised his family in Monroe, CT before retiring in New York.

He was a long-distance cyclist, an exercise enthusiast and avid motorcyclist who loved the freedom experienced "getting in the wind".

Sonny's career began as a typewriter repairman, joining his father in the family business before technology made typewriters obsolete. He than obtained his CDL license and became a truck driver. He made runs from Ct. to Philadelphia through the night for 16 years before retiring from Old Dominion Freight Lines.

A resident of Edgewood Acres in Chatham, he enjoyed helping neighbors when there was a person in need. Sonny was a friend of Bill W. and celebrated 39 years of sobriety in February.

Sonny is survived by his three children: sons Bret and Bob and daughter Debbie, his beloved cat Dayzee. He is also survived by three sisters, Leslie, Sharon and Jill, two brothers David and Terry and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great friends.
