Michael P. Fuss of Canaan, NY died June 30th at Columbia Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness, he was 48.
Born December 16, 1959 he was the son of Josephine and John Fuss Sr. Michael attended and graduated Chatham High School.
He went to Florida after high school where he was a chef for about fifteen years before coming north to Canaan. Once back in Columbia County, Michael was self employed. He loved the outdoors enjoying gardening, fishing and hunting. He was called the "Mushroom Man, " by those who knew him. He loved growing, picking, sharing and cooking mushrooms. He also enjoyed his time with friends and family.
Michael is survived by his loving parents John Sr. and Josephine Bohley Fuss of Ghent, his brothers; John Jr. of Ghent and Steven of Charlottesville, Virginia, his nephew; Eric Northup and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home Wednesday, July 2, from 7 to 9 pm. Religious Service will conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11am, interment will follow at the Ghent Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Columbia Greene Humane Society.
