Oscar P. Stall 87, of New Lebanon passed away June 1, 2011. Born in Stuyvesant Falls on May 9, 1924 he was the son of the late Phineas A. and Florence Hotaling Stall.
Oscar graduated New Lebanon Central High School and went into the US Army. He served in Company E of the 167th Infantry and received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. After the service he went to work for General Electric for 36 years in the power transformer dept.
He was a little league manager in New Lebanon for 10 years and he himself played softball with the Chatham Leagues until he was 54. Oscar was a member of the Lebanon American Legion, the Ghent V.F.W. and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed country music; he was also a retired shop steward for Local 125, of the National United Electrical Union.
Oscar is survived by his children; Linda (Brent) Moshimer of New Lebanon, Edward (Dorothy) Stall of Berlin and Sharon (Paul) McCredie of Canaan, his nine grandchildren, his 14 great grand children, his brothers; Phineas, Donald, Harold and Ralph Stall, and his two dear friends Doris Moore and Rose Alfonso.
He was pre deceased by his wife Evelyn Mae Benjamin Stall and his brother Kenneth Stall.
Family will receive friends Friday, June 3rd. at the French , Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, NY, from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.
