Raymond Jensen Hotaling, 31, passed peacefully March 14, 2026, following a sudden sarcoma diagnosis. He was surrounded by family and friends. Jensen was born December 23, 1994, to Dwayne and Lynn Hotaling of Ghent, NY. Jensen was an Eagle Scout, avid hiker, snowboarder, and traveler, visiting 47 states over the course of his lifetime. Jensen was a 2017 graduate of the University of Vermont. He is remembered as an extraordinary friend, beautiful son, and kickass brother.
After college, Jensen embarked on a four-month cross country journey with his best friend, Isaac, creating incredible memories along the way. Soon after, Jensen pursued his passion becoming an accomplished chef, earning endless accolades and lifelong friendships in various parts of the country including: Burlington, VT, South Lake Tahoe, CA, Granby, CO, Charleston, SC, Big Sky, MT, Denali, AK, and Sun Valley, ID. Most recently he found his dream destination at Points North Heli-Adventures in Cordova, AK, where he has now been immortalized with a backcountry first ski descent in his honor in the Chugach Mountains, aptly named “Attention Jensen”.
Alongside his parents, Jensen is survived by siblings Sierra Love Macari (Sean), Charles Dylan Hotaling, Daniel Trey Hotaling (Alexis Linacre), Sage Bleau Hotaling, and the love of his life, Kendall Clark, of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his grandmother Vana Hotaling.
Jensen’s family is planning a Celebration of Life in his honor with a date to be announced when plans are finalized. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
