Rita C. Zarek passed away March 8, 2025 at the Ghent Nursing and Rehab Center. Born July 14, 1933 in Corona, New York she was the daughter of the late Paul and Augusta Tepot Vella.

She grew up and was educated in Queens, New York. She would start her family there and supported them as she worked for the GCIU Local 1196 of the printing industry.

Rita moved to Greene County in 1993 and on to Columbia County in 2005 where she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Dianne Johnston, sons, Steven Juliano and Richard (Patricia) Juliano, grandchildren, Billy Johnston, Christine (Brian) Wilhelm, Jessica McTygue, Joanna Juliano, Zachary Juliano and Kate Juliano and her great grandchildren, Aidan Johnston, Jake, Derek, and Cara Wilhelm, Ava Bacon and Julia and James McTygue.
