Roy H. Meuchner 82, of Chatham, NY passed away June 4, 2022 after a short illness at Albany Medical Center. Born February 4, 1940 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Adele M. Gerdts Meuchner.
Roy graduated from Oneonta in 1965 and taught sixth grade in Chatham School District for five years. He took media courses at SUNY Albany and graduated in 1970 with his Master's Degree in Educational Administration. He was employed as a Director of Instructional Support Services for Questar III in 1970 and retired in July of 1995. Roy continued as a consultant for Questar III for 17 years. He was a partner in the ownership at Yesteryears Antiques until November 2007.
Roy was the treasurer for the Chatham Lions Club and wore many hats in the organization. There wasn't anything he was not involved with while being a member for just shy of 53 years. He enjoyed the Saratoga Race Track and travelling, especially to Rockport, MA and Las Vegas.
Roy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Claudia (Barber) Meuchner, Son Eric Meuchner, stepdaughter Marisa Buckley and stepson Michael (Shelley) Buckley, granddaughters, Debbie (Andrew) Coghill, Ashley (James Konow) Meuchner, Margaret Rafferty, Madelaine Buckley, grandsons, Christopher Rafferty, Jonathon Meuchner, Jackson Buckley, greatgrandchildren, Quinn and Owen Coghill, Sophia, Jamie, and Taylor Konow-Meuchner, also many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (VanCott), sister Adele Stadier and daughter Elisa Pskowski.
Friends and family may call at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham on Tuesday, June 7th from 2 to 4pm.at which time there will be a religious service at the funeral home.
