Ruby McCagg 91 a resident of Whittier Nursing home, Ghent and lifelong resident of Chatham died November 5, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson. Born July 5, 1915 to Orpha and Charles Dedrick in Pittstown, New York. She grew up in Chatham and graduated form Chatham High School. She enjoyed fishing and camping where she spent many summers with her late husband Earl.  She loved to garden and volunteered her time in the kitchen for meals on wheels here in Chatham. She worked as a seamstress at Riley's Mill in Chatham until she retired. Survivors include her son; Earl (Jean) McCagg Jr. of Chatham, her daughter –in-law; Jean McCagg of Ghent, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  She was pre deceased by her husband Earl Sr., her 2 brothers; Ralph and Clayton Dedrick,  and her son Harold. Calling hours will be Wednesday November 8th from 11am to noon at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.  A prayer will be offered at noon and interment will follow at the Ghent Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to the Chatham Rescue Squad in her Memory.
