Obituary

Ruth F. Dunton of Canaan, NY went home to be with her Lord Surrounded by her family Sunday, May 18, 2008.   Born March 11, 1928 in Castleton-on-Hudson ,NY, daughter of Frank and Florence Keller-Felter. She attended schools In Castleton, NY and graduated from Williams High School in Stockbridge, MA. She was a member and Moderator Emeritus of the Flat Brook Baptist Church, Canaan, NY, where over the years she had held many offices and taught Sunday School.  She was a member of Eda Chapter OES (formerly Unity Star#841, New Lebanon) Kinderhook, NY. She held many offices in the Order of the Eastern Star, including Grand Representative to North Carolina.  She was also a member of the OES in Massachusetts. She enjoyed candlepin bowling and was a member of a league at candle lanes in Pittsfield, MA for many years.   She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Clifford R. Dunton, who she married April 6, 1947 in Canaan, NY.   She leaves three daughters; Mary Ellen Jahn (Tracy) of Canaan, NY, Patricia Gillespie of Great Barrington, MA, Amy LeBlanc (John) of Canaan, NY and three sons; Daniel Dunton (Sarah) of Canaan, NY, Thomas Dunton (Natalia) of New Lebanon, NY, and Jeffrey Dunton (Shannon) of Canaan, NY. Thirteen grandchildren, Fred Jahn (Christine) of Cabot , AR, Jennifer Ferguson of San Antonio, TX, Daniel J. Dunton (Jamie) of Canaan, NY, Bethany Williams (Jordan) of Selkirk, NY, Peter Dunton of Canaan, NY, Jessica and Shaunna Dunton of New Lebanon, NY, Jason Gillespie of Tampa, FL, Rebecca Gillespie of Canaan, NY, Michael and Jacob LeBlanc of Canaan, Kamryn and Madison Dunton of Canaan, and four great-grandchildren, Daniel Layne Dunton, Rebekah Dunton and Cody Ty Dunton of Canaan, and Marshall Jahn of Cabot, AR, also many nieces and nephews across the United States.     Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21 from 4 to 8 pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. Religious services will be Thursday at the Flat Brook Baptist Church, 13091 Rt. 22, Canaan, at 11am. Interment will follow at the Flat Brook Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to the Flat Brook Baptist Church, Greylock ECF Activities Fund, or to Alzheimer's Research.
