Sherrie Ann Stieberitz

Sherrie Ann Stieberitz, 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Ghent on July 14, 2026. She was born on March 13, 1953, in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Sherrie was known for her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She dedicated more than twenty years to Sheep Meadow Animal Hospital in Ghent as a veterinary technician, where her exceptional care for animals was evident to both her colleagues and the families she served. Her love of animals extended far beyond her career, as she opened her home and heart to many rescued pets throughout her life. Her kindness and dedication to animal welfare left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Sherrie is survived by her beloved husband, William Stieberitz, with whom she shared a love of travel and adventure. Together they enjoyed countless days by the sea, making cherished memories. She was always drawn to the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the ocean.

An avid reader with a lifelong curiosity, Sherrie found great joy in learning and in caring for her many houseplants, nurturing each one with patience and love. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures and found happiness in the beauty of nature and the comfort of home.

Above all, Sherrie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether hosting family and friends or sharing a quiet conversation, she had a gift for making others feel valued and loved. Sherrie lived by the following, “ I wish you calm in your soul and deep love to sustain you through your life.” Her compassionate spirit and gentle nature will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Sherrie is also survived by her son, Kenneth Orne, and his wife, Callie; her daughter, Shannon Orne-Higgins, and her husband, Ron; and her cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Kaylee, and Nicolas Russo.
