Obituary

Stanley "Stosh" Novine was born July 20, 1921 in Stottville, N.Y.  He died July 16, 2008 at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT.         Stosh worked in the Julliard Mills in Stottville before WWII.  After the war he worked as a carpenter in the Ghent area and retired from his maintenance job at Taconic Telephone in 1983.  He fully enjoyed his many years of retirement--fishing, hunting, doing woodwork, and working in his many gardens.  He loved his camp in North Hero, VT. and was a good and generous man to not only his relatives but also to his neighbors on the hill, those up at camp and beyond.  He was loyal to his family and his country.        Stosh was very proud of his military service and his country.  He was an airplane and engine mechanic in the China-Burma-India Theater in WWII.  He was a corporal with the 1306th Army Air Force Base Unit.  He had over 50 years service to the Ghent Volunteer Fire Company and was a charter member of the Ghent VFW.  He served as an usher at St.James Church in Chatham for many years.         Stosh is survived by his loving wife of 66 years--Dolores "Pete" Novine.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.        He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Samsel and Anna Novine and by his brothers Joe Novine and Mike Novine.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.        Calling hours are Saturday July 19th 9:30-10:30am at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl funeral home , 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.
