Obituary

Steve Sorros passed away March 21, 2024, born August 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Sozon and Stavroula Sorros.

As a young man, Steve completed his service in the Greek Navy and then worked on oil ships in Greece before moving to America in 1961.

Shortly after moving he met the love of his life Sarah Sorros in the Bronx, whom he married in 1963. They moved to Spencertown, NY in 1972 where they raised their family. Steve worked at Columbia Box Corporation in Chatham until he retired in 1989.

Steve would say the only thing that mattered in life was his family and was extremely proud of his sons and grandchildren. Steve enjoyed planting vegetable and flower gardens every year, especially his prize tomatoes. He had an amazing green thumb! He also enjoyed cooking delicious seafood for his family on holidays, especially at Christmas. He loved dancing, hunting, fishing and cared for all animals. He was somewhat of an animal whisperer, as he spent many hours in the last few years with his granddaughters' chickens, horses and turkey, Axel. He absolutely loved watching his grandchildren grow up and was very protective of them all.

Steve was predeceased by his brother Tony Sorros of Aegina, Greece, and his sister-in-law Barbara Laspada

Steve is survived by his loving and adoring wife of 61 years Sarah Sorros, his sons; Frank of Hudson, NY, Steven (Tera) of Schenectady and Christopher (Karen) of Spencertown, NY,

his grandchildren Nicholas (Amanda), Jacob, Anna, Katherine, and Christopher.

He is also survived by his brothers Angelo (Ritsa) and Pete (Matula) of Aegina, Greece, and his brother- in- laws; Anthony (Carol)Laspada of Long Beach, CA., Salvatore Laspada of Chatham, NY, and his dear sister- in- law JoAnne Laspada of Ghent, NY.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews both here in America as well as in Aegina, Greece whom he loved dearly.

Family will receive friends Sunday, March 24th from 5 to 7pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday the 25th at 10am at St. James Church.
