Obituary

Thomas I. Halpin of Ghent, passed away on August 2nd at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY, with his family at his side. Thomas was born on February 1, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Mary & John Halpin. He was the loving husband of sixty-two years of Ann Marie Halpin and the beloved father of Ellen Guarino, William Halpin (Brenda), Susan Giallorenzo (Peter), Gregory Halpin (Nicole), and Mark Halpin (Linda). He was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Kerzic, and survived by his son-in-law Gary Kerzic. Thomas was the cherished grandfather of Douglas Guarino, Marilyn Guarino, Lisa Halpin, Kimberly Halpin Belval (Luke), Justin Giallorenzo, Lyndsay Halpin, Anthony Halpin, Benjamin Halpin and Ethan Halpin. He also leaves his sisters, Alice Mulderrig and Patricia Scally and his brother William Halpin. Thomas was a Chemical Engineer and enjoyed a long career in this field in addition to many successful years in the business he founded with his business partner, Arthur Hube. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gary Gelfenbien Friday, August 5, 11:15am, at St. James R.C. Church, Hudson Ave., Chatham, NY. Calling hours are Thursday, August 4, 3:00pm - 6:00pm at French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave., Chatham, NY.
