Virginia T. Radley

Virginia Tobias Radley, 101, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born in Chatham Center, New York on July 14, 1924, she was the daughter of James and Harriet (Crandall) Tobias. Virginia graduated from Northfield Seminary in East Northfield, MA in 1942. She attended the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York earning her diploma (RN) in 1945 and began a long and distinguished career as a nurse, beginning at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York and retiring as Director of Nursing at a local nursing home.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert F. Radley. She is survived by her children, Robert (Angela) Radley, Paul (Carolyn) Radley, Michael Radley and Karen (the late Stefan) Bielinski; grandchildren Tara (Kyle Wicks) Radley, Ryan (Caitlyn) Radley, Paul (Julia) Radley, Jr., Phillip Radley, Benjamin Radley, Sarah (Colton) Shurtz, Jordin Radley, Melissa (Clayton) Savage, Robert Nicholas (Kera Griffin) Klapp and Staren (Joshua) Craft and 19 great grandchildren (with one on the way).

She was the heart and soul of our family - a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose thoughtfulness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family and community leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.

A funeral liturgy will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 510 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, NY 12211, on June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Josh Evans presiding. Family and friends are invited and may call at French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, NY on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert M. Donaghue & Jessica Cunningham, of French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham.
