August 17, 1941 – January 18, 2024
W. Roger Goold of Chatham Center, NY passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Roger was born August 17th, 1941 to W. Gordon Goold and Arline E. Goold (Doty) at Hudson Hospital. Roger graduated from Chatham High School in 1960. As a child, he grew up exploring the Goold Farm, as well as the beloved family camp near 13th Lake in the Adirondacks. He loved exploring the rolling hills, lakes, and rivers of the Hudson River valley. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his best friend, Peter Nelson Sr. Roger was a past Chief and Life member of the Tri-Village Fire Company, and the Ghent Rod and Gun Club; two groups where he devoted many hours of his time and gained many friends and colleagues.
Roger spent all of his adult life working at W. Gordon Goold Well Drilling, a family business that began in 1928. He and his siblings would run that business until it was turned over to the present generation. That legacy of life's work well done still carries on today. Roger is predeceased by his first wife Judi (McLaughlin). He is survived by their loving children; Nancy Goold (Peter), Karen Kuiper (Robert), and Randy Goold (Katie) as well as five grandchildren: Mitchell, Erica, Danielle, Emma and W. Newton and one great-granddaughter, Zoey all who brought sunshine to his life. Roger is survived by his present wife Patricia (Brooks-Borras) who added renewed love and adventure into his life for the next 30 years until his passing and his step-daughter Theresa Amelang ( Borras). After retirement, Roger & Pat moved out West to Arizona where they shared their life exploring by quad, truck, or boat anywhere they could from sun up to sunset. Roger loved the West and was a cowboy at heart, In true fashion, he passed at high noon. Roger is also survived by his sister Betsy Palladino and brother, David (Carol) Goold. He was predeceased by his older brother Alan Goold. Please join our family for a Celebration of Roger's Life at the Tri-Village firehouse at 111 County Route 13 on Saturday January 27th. from 11am to 2pm.
