William J. Pollock

William J. Pollock, 72, of Valatie, known to many as Bill, passed away on September 26, 2026, at Albany Medical Center. He was born on January 13, 1954, in Yonkers to the late Arthur Pollock and Williamay (Trocci) Pollock.

Bill was a hardworking man whose career reflected both dedication and versatility. Over the years, he worked for various companies and was truly a man of many trades. He was especially fond of his years as a truck driver, a line of work that suited his steady nature and strong work ethic. He began at B&B for a year before continuing on to National Freight and TRL, building a career that he remembered with pride.

Outside of work, Bill found enjoyment in the simple pleasures and pastimes that brought him happiness. He liked bowling, poker, Texas Holdem, and he enjoyed playing Nintendo Zelda. He could often be found watching wrestling on television, downloading movies to burn on CDs, or working on cars. These interests reflected his practical skills, his sense of fun, and the many ways he connected with the world around him.

Among the memories cherished by those who knew and loved him is watching the sunset on a recent cruise with his beloved wife, Betty, a moment that captures both the warmth of their marriage and the quiet joy he found in being with her.

Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Pollock and by his daughters, Joanne Stevenson and Ann Hoffmann. He also leaves behind a loving family of grandchildren: Bernard Quickenton III, Brian E. Quickenton, Kristine Quickenton, Nevaeh Stevenson, Austin William Harmon, Brandon (Ella) Phillips, Mackenzie Phillips, and Jesse Phillips. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Hailey, Jameson, Kaia, Greyson, Jaxson, Hazel, and Kiazen. He is further survived by his sisters, Cathy Fox and Carol Pollock. His family will remember him with love and gratitude, and his place in their lives will remain lasting and deeply treasured.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Amy Lee Quickenton and siblings, Amy Lynch, Frances Costa, Roy Pollock, Robert Pollock, and Arthur Pollock.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave, Chatham, New York. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Old Chatham Union Cemetery.

Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a man who worked hard, enjoyed life in his own way, and shared meaningful moments with those he loved. His memory will be carried forward by all who knew him.
